FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Short answers about the platform, targeting, campaigns, pricing, measurement and policy.
These answers cover Housing Market Ads: a real estate advertising platform that places display campaigns inside property marketplaces, targeted by search location, property type, listing type and keywords, and priced per thousand impressions.
About the platform
What Housing Market Ads is, who uses it, and where the ads run.
- What is Housing Market Ads?
- Housing Market Ads is a real estate advertising platform. It places display advertising inside real estate marketplaces, so campaigns reach people at the moment they are actively shopping for property, across a network of 34 portals.
- Who is Housing Market Ads for?
- Real estate agents and brokerages, property developers and project marketers, private sellers and landlords, mortgage brokers and mortgage companies, insurers, property managers, conveyancers and real estate lawyers, relocation, removals, furnishing, renovation and home service businesses, and the marketing agencies that work for them.
- How is it different from Google Ads or Meta ads?
- It is a specialist layer, not a replacement. Google captures what someone searches for and Meta builds audiences from who someone is; Housing Market Ads adds the property someone is actively shopping for, because the ads run where those searches happen. Most advertisers run it alongside their existing channels.
- Where do my ads appear?
- Across the Housing Market network of 34 portals, shown to people browsing property listings.
- Is Housing Market Ads only for residential property?
- No. Campaigns run for condominiums, houses, apartments, villas, land, and commercial, office or business property. The exact categories available depend on the market you are advertising in.
- Do I need to talk to a salesperson to start?
- No. Creating an account and building a campaign is self-service. You can contact the team if you would rather talk it through first.
- Does the network support more than one language?
- The portals and the dashboard are translated, but a campaign has no language setting: write the ad in the language of the market you target, and review every translated claim before launch, because you remain responsible for what your advertising says in any language.
Targeting
The four dimensions, how they combine, and how far each one narrows.
- What targeting is available?
- Four dimensions: the location being searched, property type, listing type and keywords. The first three are set through keywords, which are matched against the address of the portal page being viewed, and the options available vary by market.
- What is search location targeting?
- It reaches people based on the place they are looking for property in, regardless of where they are physically. It is how you reach cross-border buyers, investors and people planning a move.
- What is user location targeting?
- Targeting by where a reader physically is. Housing Market Ads does not offer it: ads follow the market being searched, so state in the ad where a local or licensed offer applies.
- Can I target international buyers for a property in another country?
- Yes. Search-location targeting reaches someone interested in a destination even when they are physically elsewhere — for example, a person in Germany searching for property in Thailand.
- Can I target a city, neighbourhood, postcode or radius?
- A country, through its portal, and a city or area, by naming it in your keywords. Audiences drawn as circles on a map can be saved in the dashboard, but where an ad appears is decided by its keywords.
- Can I target by property type and listing type?
- Yes, through keywords. Property types include condominiums, houses, apartments, villas, land, and commercial, office or business property, and listing intent covers sale, rent, vacation rental and co-living. Available categories may differ by marketplace.
- Can I target by price range or buyer behaviour?
- No. There is no price-range or behaviour-based targeting. State the price point in the ad and on the landing page, so the people who click are the ones it suits.
- Can keyword targeting be combined with location targeting?
- Yes — a location is simply one of a keyword’s words. Each word you add narrows the pages an ad can appear on, so watch impressions in your dashboard after launch.
- How narrow should my targeting be?
- Narrow enough to match the offer, broad enough to deliver. Start with the strongest location and property intent, then add filters only where they represent a real relevance or eligibility requirement.
Campaigns and creative
Getting a campaign built, approved and live.
- How do I create a campaign?
- Create a free account with your email address and a password, then build the campaign: a name, a launch date and the landing-page URL; short titles and descriptions, images and a logo; the keywords that decide where it appears; and a daily budget. Add a card, submit it for review, and it goes live once approved.
- What information does an advertiser account need?
- An email address and a password. A billing address and a card are added when you submit your first campaign.
- What ad formats can I run?
- Display ads, assembled from what you supply — short titles and descriptions, images and a logo — and fitted to the ad slots on each portal page. You do not choose banner sizes or upload finished banners.
- What should my ad link to?
- The most relevant page for the promise in the ad — a specific listing, a development page, a consultation or quote form, or a focused service page. It should load quickly on mobile, keep the campaign message, and make the next action obvious.
- Can I test more than one ad?
- Yes. One campaign can hold several titles, descriptions and images, which rotate; to compare two versions, run them as two campaigns and read their figures side by side. Change one major element at a time, and judge the result against your objective rather than click-through rate alone.
- Are campaigns reviewed before they run?
- Yes. Every campaign is reviewed before it runs, and nothing is shown until it is approved. Allow time before a launch or an open house, and follow the creative and landing-page requirements shown in your account.
- How do I check search demand before I build a campaign?
- Open the Keyword Planner — from its link on this site, or from Keyword Planner in the dashboard sidebar — and choose a location, property types, listing types and a date range. It suggests keyword ideas and counts how many matching searches were made on the portals in that period. The count is a record of past searches, not a promise of impressions.
- Can I edit a live campaign?
- Yes. The dashboard lets you edit a campaign, and switch it off and on at any time; sorting the campaigns list by its on/off column groups the running ones together. Some changes may trigger another review or affect delivery.
Pricing and billing
What it costs, what you pay for, and where the commercial terms live.
- How much does Housing Market Ads cost?
- The standard advertised price is $10 CPM — $10 per 1,000 impressions, in US dollars. Pricing may change, so check your dashboard for the rate and any applicable taxes.
- What does CPM mean?
- CPM is the cost per thousand impressions. At $10 CPM, 10,000 billable impressions cost $100, before any applicable taxes.
- Do I pay for clicks or leads?
- The model charges for impressions, not clicks or leads, and no click or lead is guaranteed.
- Does it cost anything to create an account?
- No. Creating an account is free, and a card is needed only when you submit a campaign. You pay for the impressions your campaigns serve.
- Is there a long-term contract?
- No. Campaign setup is self-service and there is no long-term contract.
- How and when am I charged?
- By card, in US dollars, from a prepaid balance. Submitting a campaign adds your card and tops the balance up, and while campaigns run the balance is topped up again automatically when it runs low. Your payment history is in the dashboard.
- Are taxes included?
- Taxes may not be included in the advertised price. VAT, GST, sales tax or withholding obligations depend on your billing entity and jurisdiction, and are shown where required.
Measurement
What the dashboard counts, and how to read it.
- What is an impression?
- One recorded display of your ad. It is not the same as a unique person, a click, an enquiry or a sale, and repeated displays to the same person may count as multiple impressions.
- How is click-through rate calculated?
- Clicks divided by impressions, multiplied by 100. Invalid-traffic filtering and reporting adjustments may affect the totals shown.
- Can I track conversions?
- Not in the dashboard, which reports impressions, clicks, click-through rate and spend. Measure enquiries on your own landing page — for example with URL parameters your analytics already reads — and obtain any legally required consent for the tracking you use.
- How should I evaluate campaign performance?
- Match the measurement to the objective: qualified enquiries, booked appointments, quote requests, cost per qualified lead, and downstream revenue where you can see it. CPM and click-through rate alone do not establish profitability.
Policy and support
What is promised, what is not, and where to get help.
- Does Housing Market Ads guarantee leads or sales?
- No. Performance depends on your offer, market, pricing, targeting, creative, landing page, follow-up, seasonality, inventory and competition. No lead, sale, approval or return on investment is guaranteed.
- What compliance rules apply to advertisers?
- You are responsible for applicable housing, anti-discrimination, privacy, consumer-protection, financial-promotion, insurance, legal-services, licensing, disclosure, sanctions and intellectual-property rules. Discriminatory audience selection, misleading property claims, guaranteed returns, guaranteed loan approval and unsupported superlatives are not permitted.
- Where can I get help?
- The Knowledge Base answers most product questions, and the contact form on this site reaches the team. For payment, approval or policy issues, include your account and campaign identifiers — never send full card details or passwords by ordinary email.
